Xuemei Zhou is a multidisciplinary artist based in Vancouver, with a background in journalism and visual communication.

Working across interactive installation, 3D forms, and moving image, her practice is driven by a playful curiosity about systems and the ways they shape our habits, emotions, and ways of seeing. Her works often place viewers within incomplete, dislocated or subtly absurd frameworks, tilting the perspective and opening up alternative modes of attention.

Rooted in an interest in the ordinary as a space for speculation, her work uses layered materials and open-ended structures to create conditions where meaning remains fluid. Rather than offering conclusions, she approaches art as a form of mediation, drawing attention to the unresolved, the unstable, and the in-between. Humor and ambiguity become instruments for raising questions, opening space for reflection in a world shaped by uncertainty.
